John Arthur's Story
Married (1969) to Helen of Oshawa, a fellow U of T student (Fine Arts) and we have two sons;
* Colin: Captain, Canadian AirForce, Aerospace Engineering (Ryerson U) Officer, and
* Will: Motive Power Technology (Fanshaw) and Environmental Studies (Laurier U) 2010; now in management at Canadian Tire.
Helen headed West Hill's Art Department from 1973 - 2003. Very busy with continuing community volunteering in retirement.
I had not intended to move back to Owen Sound, at least not a very long time, but in 1972-3, just out of U of T Architecture, I had a chance to design a new restaurant franchise prototype to be launched and featured in Owen Sound's first shopping centre, the Grey County Mall...
We bought the old Cavell School property near the OS Golf Club from the Board of Ed in 1972-3 and when Helen finished teaching that year, we moved everything into it, "as is"! That's when the WHSS job appeared and the chance for Helen to develop her own art department was too good to pass up. So ...Expand for more

Many many events, tragedies and triumphs, and stories...
One of the early adventures was rounding up the money, conceiving with my brother Tim, and leading the organizational support as Tim developed the festival values, methods, format and programming for:
Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival Google the name to get to the website.
Summerfolk is Grey Bruce OS's premier summer cultural festival and a magical village that appears on the shores of the Sound at Kelso Beach Park on the third weekend of August every year for the past 35 years!!!
So let's all we 1965 OSCVI grads make it an annual rendezvous/reunion point to meet there while enjoying the great festival arts! How many of you have been to Summerfolk?
Last year was a record year. Many families and groups have made it their regular annual reunion place, and that has always added to the great spirit of Summerfolk.
